This collection of developmentally sequenced curricular
materials is the first in a
forthcoming series developed
by Roger Sams and BethAnn Hepburn based on elements from the
Orff
Schulwerk,
Kodály and Dalcroze Eurhythmics methodologies. Each of the 30
lessons
found in the book contains four to eight
"pathways"
that focus on different learning activities related to a
particular concept or song.
This structure allows teachers to individualize each lesson to
best serve the
needs
of
their classroom. Book 1 covers quarter notes, two eighths,
quarter rests and
half
notes, so, mi, la and introduces do. Printable
manipulatives for composition activities are available as a
free digital download with the purchase of the book.The companion
CD-ROM disk contains SMART Board electronic visuals that
complement
the
lessons in the book. Teachers who do not have a SMART Board
in their
classroom may still use these visuals by using SMART Notebook
Interactive
Viewer software (a free download) with a computer and LCD
projector.
