These delightful stories about a boy named So-me are designed to
help young children sing in tune and move in time. By
singing So-me’s name the reader presents the child’s
natural chant (descending minor third eg. G-E) so often
the child will want to copy the sound.Book Twelve visually identifies the
descending minor third between do and the lower la heard
in the previous story. The tonic chord (d m s) is reinforced
by singing it upwards. Re is slipped in almost incidentally
right at the end of the story between me and do where it is
so often found in melodies. Commonly used compound
time rhythmic patterns are also introduced.
