Doug Goodkin and the Pentatonics are musicians and teachers dedicated to bringing jazz to children and adults of all ages. Trained in the Orff approach to music education, they all teach preschool, elementary and middle school children in schools during the day and play jazz at night. Their concerts and workshops include all levels of audience participation- kids singing along, dancing, playing body percussion, and improvising on xylophones alongside the band. This CD includes jazz standards and African American spirituals and children's rhymes intended for young audiences. The liner notes provide suggestions for using each track in the classroom.
