The T2N1 is designed to replace a nail on a Studio 49 Type 2 soprano or alto xylophone where the original nail has been lost. Type 2 instruments were manufactured between 1975-1991 and have a molded plastic interior. Normally the nails do not come out and are never changed. The T2N1 is used only when the original nail has broken out of the plastic interior and has been lost.
This custom nail is 38 mm or 1.5 inches long. The end has been machined smooth to protect the integrity of the AX-05 tubing that will cover it. In this repair the head of the nail is down and the machined end is up.
